At Community School of San Diego, we believe that every student deserves to be a part of their community. 

Community activities are selected to support the student’s school program and reinforce skills in real-life settings. Here are some examples of the outings that the K-8th graders do:

  • Balboa Park Museums – Navigation Skills, Social Skills, Academics (science, history, social studies)
  • Bowling – Social Skills (peer interaction, turn-taking, waiting)
  • Library – Academics (language, history, social studies, science), Social Skills
  • Grocery shopping – Money Skills (purchasing, budgeting), Community Safety, Executive Functioning (planning, organization)
  • Hike with OT- Gross Motor Skills, Navigation Skills, Community Safety
  • Group games at the park with Speech team – Social Skills, Communication, Gross Motor Skills
